An Italian family, using a traditional recipe passed down from their ancestors, wanted to launch their limoncello under the brand name Santa Maria. The challenge was to create a brand and packaging design that repositioned limoncello as more than just an after-dinner digestif, elevating it as a premium drink for any occasion and a star of the modern bar scene.
The creative objective was to develop a brand that reflected the product’s rich heritage without relying on an overly traditional aesthetic, allowing it to stand out from competitors. The design needed to highlight the handcrafted nature of the limoncello while presenting it as a sophisticated and versatile premium drink.
The branding featured an illustration of the Santa Maria, accompanied by hand-drawn sketches to reflect the product’s artisanal nature. Each bottle was hand-numbered and sealed with wax, emphasising its small-batch, handcrafted process. I also produced a comprehensive brand guideline, ensuring consistency across all visual and marketing touchpoints as the product launched.
